ANIMAL CARETAKER

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Pet Care Center, Yokota AB. This is an Intermittent (Flexible) position, 0-40 hours per week.


Provides routine and personal care according to established methods and/or special instructions for dogs and cats. Observes animals for obvious changes in appearance, illness and disease, and reports to supervisor or higher grade staff. Follows feeding and watering instructions and prepares and feeds accordingly. Cleans and disinfects pens, kennels, run area. Performs administrative duties such as creating reservations, answering phone calls, and filing documents. Collects fees for services and creates daily sale reports as necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must be willing and able to care for cats and dogs to include feeding, watering, and cleaning/disinfecting of kennels. Requires general knowledge of clerical duties such as filing and counting daily receipts. Must be able to lift animals weighting up to 40 pounds without assistance and 75 pounds with assistance. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, and frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl to retrieve animals. Must satisfactorily complete a preemployment physical. Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to satisfactorily complete Installation and National Agency Records Check. Must be able to work an uncommon/irregular tour of duty (to include nights, weekends, and holidays). Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required.
